Mr. John Stewart.

Dear Bro:

Yours of the 14th ult. in relation to two head of mares which you wish to purchase, has been received.

I do not wish to sell them, and would be pleased to have you drive them south with your herd. We have engaged to provide some horses for Bro. Jacob Hamlin and will have to collect from all available sources south. We wish you to hold these mares and their colts subject to the order of Bro. Hamblin, as it is more than probable we will send him one.

Your attention to this will much oblige.

Your Brother in the Gospel
Brigham Young
