Hon. Samuel Smith,
Probate Judge, Brigham City.

Dear Bro:-

Sister Alfred Cordon called on me just before last Conference with regard to her affairs. I advised her to take out letters of administration & to have 1 or 2 others appointed with her.

She proposed her son-in-law, who was then with her, which I approved & remarked "take another if you wish, & if there is any of his sons old enough or any one else that you would prefer, let them be appointed so that the estate can be settled legally." to which I added, "the Probate Judge will dictate the settlement."

Sister Cordon tells me that the Court refuses her the privilege of adminisitrating with others upon the estate; and that her eldest son has been appointed the administrator.

For my part I can see no harm in her or her son-in-law, or both of them being administrators <with him>. However it is the business of the Court to dictate in all these matters pertaining to the settlement of the estate and I hope and trust it will be done justly and satisfactorily to the parties concerned.
