Salt Lake City,
May 5. 1871.

Elder George D. Watt,
Kaysville.

Dear Brother,

Yours of the 25th ult. was duly received. We were pleased to hear from you -of your present well being and your favorable prospects for the future.

With regard to the wheat you wish to borrow you should have it with pleasure, but we have not got it.

The G.T. Store has been entirely without wheat for some time and notwithstanding we have been borrowing, the scarcity has hindreed, and, indeed, almost suspended the Public Works. We trust however soon to be able to resume again, and with redoubled energies the building of the Temple and other works, as the prospects for an abundant harvest are as yet decidedly favorable.

I have some flour that you can have any time you like to send for it, but I have not got the wheat, and indeed, very little flour, still I am willing to share with you, rather than you should suffer.

Your friend, and Brother in the Gospel.
Brigham Young

Excuse delay, your letter got mislaid
