Mr. John W. Young
134 Grand St. N. Y.

My dear son,

The accompanying sheet is a copy of a portion of a letter mailed to you a few days since. By this mail I send the Photographs. On the 1st June I telegraphed you "Make the loan-- three (3) years -- deposit with Morton Bliss & Company, place to the credit of H. B. Clawson
Z.C.M.I." I intend the Sixty five thousand dollars for tithing and it must not be infringed upon on any account whatever.

Yesterday I drove the first spike in the first rail laid of the U.S.R.R. Bishop Sharp, Wm. Jennings and Feramorz Little followed suit. The steam saw mill has been erected to saw the ties, and the iron is arriving, so that track laying will now be pushed on vigorously. At a meeting of the U.S.R.R. 100 shares were assigned to Joseph A. Young, and 100 to you. Means to pay for grading &c. will have to be raised immediately, the original 10 per cent, subscribed will be used and another assessment will be made if necessary, which will be refunded on bonds. Jonasson & Pike have been apprised of this requirement. Since writing you last nothing of special moment has occurred here. On Saturday and Sunday last a party of about 100 of us held a two days meetings at Ogden, which passed off very pleasantly and we trust profitably. On Saturday Brigham joined us at Ogden having just returned from Soda Springs. His health is excellent.

Jesse W. Fox started this morning to make preliminary surveys to the Point of the Mountain. About Thursday probably we shall determine the line.

At a meeting of the U.C.R.R. Stockholders held as per appointment the same Directors were elected. The Board ap elected the same Prest. Vice Prest., &c, but appointed John Sharp, Gen. Supt.

I must close in order to post this to night. May peace be with you. Remember me to Joseph A. Willard. Libby. Bro. Staines and all friends.
