Dear Sir,

Your interesting letter to Prest. Young arrived here during his absence from home, but I will call attention to it on his return.

No man in Utah has done more in the interest of seri-culture than he has, although he has met with very little success. Last year he lost nearly all the worms, and, this season, over a million have perished. Competent persons have endeavored to discover the cause, & it is generally believed that the grasshoppers, or locusts, which have so infested this section the last few years, poison the leaves of the Mulberry & Osage orange on which the worms feed. If this is correct, it will have a strong tendency to kill this branch of industry here, at least, so long as the grasshoppers continue to molest us.

Yours with respect
D. McKenzie, Secty Prest. B. Young
