Messrs Moore & Weinmann.
Benicia, Cal.

Gentlemen:

Your esteemed favors of sample of Penman's Assistant, pens, circulars &c. were received here while Prest. Young was absent from home. I will say, however, that the thing is not new to him, as he shewed me a very handsome present he received about a year ago of the same character. He tried the "assistant" a few times but has not accquired the habit of using it, as he does very little writing.

If you wish to open business connections here, there are two or three houses, quite reliable, that do a general Stationary business. The 1st <&> most extensive is "Zion's Cooperative Mercantile Institution" Mr. H. B. Clawson, Supt. doing business in every part of the Territory. 2nd Calder Bros. Stationers, S. L. City. 3rd James Dwyer, Bookseller & Stationery, S. L. City. The Prest. is not engaged in mercantile business himself, but I believe would recommend either of the houses named.

Yours very respectfully

D. McKenzie,
Secty. Prest. B. Young
