Elder A. Carrington,
42 Islington, Liverpool.

Dear Brother:--

It was formerly the practice of the Liverpool Office to send me annually an alphabetical List of the names of all who paid tithing in the European Mission, in the different conferences &c. Since that for the year ending June 30th, 1867 was received none has come to hand, and it would be as well for you to have them made out up to date and sent to me, if you can possibly do so.

We also should have a list of the emigrants by each vessel mailed immediately to me, or under cover to some of my clerks, as the Vessel starts, so that it would be here and published before their arrival, which would help their friends here very much to find them and assist them on arrival.

The notes of indebtedness should be sent by the president of each Company, that we may have them on the arrival of the Company, inquiries being often made when they arrive as to how much they are indebted. Please make a note of these instructions in your book kept for that purpose; keep a list of the notes, names and amounts in case they should get lost en route.

The tithing list for June 30th. 1863 of the European Mission was lost by Elder John Kay, or his family (as he died) in returning to the Valley and I would be glad to have you duplicate it so as to make the file complete, when it can be done by your help.

I have just been looking at a statement of Account made out by one of your clerks against Bro. H. S. Eldredge the handwriting of which is of rather poor style. I hope you will be able to get a clerk that can write a good plain neat round hand.

We also wish to get for the use of the P.E.F. Co department here, a List from you corresponding to our List of Persons ordered out' showing who have come & who have not, with the reasons for their not coming

Your Brother in the Gospel,

Brigham Young
