181 Summit St., Toledo Ohio.

Dear Sir,

Your letter to Prest. Young on the subject of opening an office in this City for Dentistry has been received. It is usual with him, being so much pressed with business, to hand such letters to me for a proper share of attention. It is somewhat singular, but hardly a day passes now without a similar application from dentists throughout the Country.

We have several dentists in this City, say 6 or 8, men or more or less scientific ability, who are following their profession part of the time, and filling up the rest of it as they best can; 4 of that number are mechanical dentists. I believe that I would be doing you an injustice were I to hold out any inducement to you to settle here with the idea that you would make money, on the other hand, I would rather you would judge for yourself than take my judgement, as the road travelling is comparatively cheap, easy & safe. Would it not be better, then, for you, if you are bent on coming west to see & judge for yourself?

Yours with respect
D. McKenzie
