Major John T. Lane
702, Fourth Avenue, South Brooklyn, N. Y.

Dear Sir:

Your communication to Prest. B. Young with newspaper, Cards &c. came duly to hand. I was at once instructed by the President to lay those papers before the Mayor of the City, Mr. D. H. Wells, which I did, in order that whatever benefits might be made to result therefrom, could be communicated to the municipal authorities & by them to our citizens.

There have been 2 or 3 cases of small pox here, but as the utmost care is being taken by the health officers, and the surroundings are so favorable, viz: the mountain air-- the
isolated situation of our houses -- and the general habits of the people are such that we apprehend no danger.

Yours with respect,

D. McKenzie, Sec. Prest. B. Young
