Dear Sir:

Yours to Prest Young with reference to a certain balloon, or aerial ship ascension was duly received.

The Prest. instructed me to acknowledge the receipt thereof, and inform you that we have not the facilities for inflating your canvass, being without Gas works of any kind in this Territory.

I will add, that such an ascension, could it be made here successfully, would create intense interest, and I apprehend there would be little difficult in raising the amount of subscription.

Possibly you can arrange about the gas, and if so, I would suggest that you write to Mr. Daniel H. Wells, Mayor of Salt Lake City, stating your terms &c. as he is the proper person to attend to such matters, and the party to whom Prest. Young would refer you.

Respectfully,
D. McKenzie
Sec. Prest B. Young
