Salt Lake City. U. T.
October 12. 1871.

Elder George Reynolds,
42, Islington, Liverpool.

Dear Bro:

The Prest. instructed me to write to you inquiring whether or not you
received a telegram as follows:--

"Salt Lake City, Sept. 27. 1871.

George Reynolds,
42, Islington, Liverpool.

I am instructed to say to you that Albert Carrington is wanted here on
important business and must come immediately without any delay whatever.

Thomas W. Ellerbeck,"

As we have no intimation that Prest. Carrington has started, we are at a loss to know
whether this telegram has reached you. If it has not, the Prest. wishes you to call at the
Telegraph Office and inquire about it.

You are doubtless as well posted on the "Situation" here, as our papers and private letters can make you, & as I have no desire to write merely for writing's sake, & being very busy, I will merely remark that from the first of the present agitation the Prest. has said the whole affair would end in a fizzle & such is the prevailing faith of the people. The President's health is quite restored and he feels first rate.

Senator Morton, Prest. Grant's right hand man paid this city a flying visit on his way to Cal., the City authorities placed rooms in the Townsend House at his disposal & that of his party of eight persons, & as some of our prominent men labored with him, it is thought his visit will be productive of good.

We were all well pleased to hear of your recovery from that terrible scourge, the small pox, & I trust that you will be permitted to return in peace and safety to your family, home and friends in the mountains.

Your Bro. in the Gospel
D. McKenzie
