Dear Sir,

Your letter to Prest. Brigham Young was duly received. He is away from home and in his absence I have been instructed to say to you, that however much he might be disposed to assist you and others to come here, there are a great many of our people all over the world looking for assistance to emigrate many of whom have been in the Church from 10 to 30 years, and all our exertions are constantly directed to the extent of our means to assist them. All that the President and the people generally could do this year has been done and the emigration closed for the season last month.

Yours with respect
D McKenzie Secty.
