Dear Sir,

Yours of the 19th ult. has been received. I was much pleased with your views as expressed in that letter,

To what extent the unhallowed persecution you allude to shall be carried I do not know; but we have some faith that there is still enough of soundness left in the hearts of the American people to prevent the culmination of the wicked designs of our persecutors.

We are in the hands of a just God upon whom we strongly rely, and we do not doubt but his providence will carry us through.

Please accept my well wishes, and may peace and prosperity attend you.

Yours with respect
Brigham Young
