Dear Sir,

Yours to Prest. B. Young of Jan. 19. was not received here until yesterday having been detained in the blockade on the U. P. Railroad. I am sorry that a little pamphlet entitled, "Answers to questions" recently gotten up here is sold out, or I would have sent you a copy. Another edition will be out in a week or two, and you can procure it be sending to the "Deseret News" Office, S. L. City, price 25 cents.

I will give you a categorical answer to your questions, however, and this may serve your purpose. The Church was organized in Kirtland, Ohio, with six members on the 6th day of April, 1830. by the prophet, Joseph Smith. I cannot give you the number of members, there are probably 85,000 in this Territory, and a like number abroad.

Respectfully,
D. McKenzie, Sec.
