Mr. Silas Richards.
South Cottonwood.

Dear Bro: James Maxfield & Annie Hanson Horne, appeared to-day before the First Presidency on a case of difficulty, but as the parties made very conflicting statements and there was no testimony present on either side, we advised that the case be brought before you as a magistrate where you can examine witnesses & probably get at the facts.

The parties have verbally agreed to abide your decision and should sign papers to that effect before the case is heard.

If you will advise us of the time appointed for the hearing we will probably send some person there.

Your Bro. in the Gospel
Brigham Young
