Dear Bro:-

Yours of the 13th inst. has been received. We are pleased to learn that you have been canvassing for means to assist in the emigration of the poor, in which we hope you will prove successful.

With regard to your question "Can we apply the funds raised here, to the emigration of the friends of parties living here." You can, if you feel so disposed, and by sending the money through this office, you can get the same rates as P.E. Fund passengers.

Observe, however, that these contributions are not credited on our books, as donations to the Fund, as they are not donations, but simply advances made to private individuals to whom you must look for your credit. The Fund has nothing to do with these. Donations to the Fund are received unconditionally, and credited to the donors, and the money is used to emigrate those who are considered, by the presiding officers, the most worthy; and those who have been long in the Church and have proved themselves faithful have the preference.
