Ogden City,

Dear Bro:

Yours of the 17th in relation to the sad accident by which your son lost his life, has been received.

I am not aware of any law under which you could recover damages from the company in that case, but I am of the opinion they are more or less culpable in risking the lives of their employees, through bad arrangements for coupling the cars. Accidents of that kind are too frequent.

I believe if you were to present the case respectfully to the Company through the proper officers and make your claim for indemnity that they would deal liberally by you, but I do not believe you would accomplish much by prosecution,
