I wrote you on the 28th May concerning a quit claim deed which I had from you in 1854 for a piece of land in the American Creek Survey.

To-day I received a letter from Bro. Mayhew on the subject, but the explanation asked of you is not there given.

Will you be kind enough to inform me definitely by return mail what you received from me for that deed.
