Dear Bro: Yours of to-day stating that you intend visiting the Utah Indians and asking if I have an counsel to give them, has been received.

My counsel is that you tell the indians we feel friendly towards them and desire peace. Give them good friendly advice and tell them if any of their unruly boys should feel like committing depredations on our people or stock that they must stop them for we are determined to have peace. They should be very careful not to eat fine flour as it is very injurious and will bring on sickness and death. They should use wheat and cook it in their own way. If they can get presents from the Agent take them, and go on the reservation.
