1872 July 12 Letter to Jorgen Smith

Title

1872 July 12 Letter to Jorgen Smith

Description

Overpaid tithing cannot be applied to P.E. Fund debt, as the accounts are separate. Excess tithing reduces next year’s tithing obligation.

Dear Bro:--

Yours to Prest. B. Young of the 29th ult. was duly received. His health was quite poorly when I read it to him, but he instructed me to write to you that we could not credit overpaid tithing on P.E. Fund indebtedness, as they were two separate and distinct accounts.

If you overpay your tithing, you have that much less to pay the next year, which leaves you something on hand to pay off your indebtedness to the P.E. Fund, but when it is once credited to you it cannot be transferred to P.E. Fund A/c.

Your Bro. in the Gospel
D. McKenzie. Secty.
