John W. Young, Esqr.

My dear Son.

As Bro Staines is about starting east, I take this opportunity of dropping you a few lines although there is only a few minutes to spare.

We left St. George, Feb. 17th on our return home, & arrived here on the 27th travelling through the worst roads I ever experienced on that road. I say "through" advisedly, because of the character of the roads, frost and snow and mud, almost without end.

The Gen. & family enjoyed themselves remarkably well notwithstanding the fatigue of the journey. Their travelling conveniences were good as could be expected, and I believe were quite satisfactory. They returned home, starting from here March 4th feeling well, a party of us accompanied them to Ogden by special train.

My health has been much improved during my visit south for which I feel very thankful. We have had more snow this winter than for 7 or 8 winters.

My principal object in writing you now is to impress upon your mind that I wish you to get through with your business as soon as you possibly can, and return home, as I have something for you to do here, for which you are much needed.

I read your telegram. Bro Riter showed me and have taken the City Railroad.

Peace be with you. Hoping to see you soon I remain

Your Affectionate Father.
Brigham Young

My love to Libby.
