August 30. 1873.

Kanosh,

We want you to tell Red Lariat and the Sheverets not to steal, nor to fight with the Mormons, but to raise stock and grain so that they will have food for themselves and their
papooses.

We shall settle down in their country by and by. We shall want them to herd for us and do other things, and we will pay them biscuits and blankets, but be sure they must be
peaceable and be kind to the Mormons, for the Mormons are their friends and will do them good.
