Dear Sir,
 
Through the kindness of Mr. Clawson, I am in receipt of certain papers addressed to you by Mr. Q. A. McConnell; some of which are herewith returned. Many thanks for your courtesy.
 
I have carefully read and considered them, particularly wherein they refer to our people, and I find them similar to what we are frequently receiving -- professedly from spiritual sources, but we pay no regard to them.
 
While we are ready to believe that Mr. Mc Connell received spiritual communications, we do not believe that he received them from the prophet Joseph Smith, nor, that it would profit us to pay them any attention.
 
With best regards to yourself and Mr. Mc. Connell, I remain, yours with respect.
