Mr. Geo. W. Morton
2635, Wash St. St. Louis, Mo.

Dear Sir,

Yours to Prest. Brigham Young of the 12th inst. was duly received

He instructed me to acknowledge its receipt. It would be next to impossible to for him or any one to suppy the many calls made upon him for assistance to emigrate here, and the matter has resolved itself into the organization of the "Perpetual Emigrating Fund," to which our people contribute their means, and this money is placed in the hands of the presiding elders abroad to be used to emigrate the poor among our people, but preference is given to those who have been long in the Church.

Yours with respect
D. McKenzie. Secty.
