Gen. James S. Brisbin, U. S. A.
Omaha, Neb.

Sir,

Yours of the 17th. inst. with regard to collecting animals for the Phil. Zoological Gardens has been received. The enterprise is a highly commendable one, and merits a large share of the public interest.

A short time ago I received a communication from Dr. George L. Miller of Omaha on the same subject, which we published in the "Deseret News," and, at the same time instructed Proff. J. L. Barfoot, of the "Deseret Museum" to communicate with you on the subject. Mr. B. is thoroughly reliable, and is, in my judgement, the proper person to attend to the business here.

I would respect recommend that the gentlemen having the Zoological Gardens in charge appoint him their Agent for Utah.

Yours with respect
Brigham Young
