Mr. John W. Young.
care of Benedict, Hall & Co. N. Y.

My dear son:

As the time is fast rolling on, & winter approaching, and affairs at St. George and the south require some one to attend to them, I would like to know definitely when you receive this whether it is your intention to return home so as to take the position assigned to you in the south; if such is not your intention I would like you to say so and we will appoint some one else.

I have written to John Sharp instructing him to call on you for my bonds, and I wish you to deliver them to him so that he can deposit them in New York.

My health is rather improved, but I long to go south in order to recruit my strength.

The families are all well. It is late, and I feel tired and am going to bed.

Peace be with you,

Your Affecionate Father
Brigham Young
