I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication of the 15th inst. which came to hand to-day.

Thanking you for your estimation in regarding me as a "representative Mormon citizen," I most respectfully decline the proposed meeting, as I could not possibly take any part in the proceedings, with the object of "effect- the of your "subjoined resolution."

Permit me to suggest that the proper time and place to make nominations, will be at a convention of the people, which I presume will be held at some suitable time prior to the election.
