Your favor of Sept. 1st. with Bro. Linforth's enclosed arrived pr. last mail,
Your request in relation to the dificent Nos. of the Deseret News have been complied with.
It gives me pleasure to hear of your welfare and the general prospects of the work in which you are engaged.
True I regret to learn of Bro. Riser's imprisonment, as regards himself on account of the personal inconvenience to him but nothing more, so long as the Elders preach truth and remain faithful we may expect the Maynardones of Satin to exert their power against them.
It is no bad omen for the success of the cause of truth in Germany that the faithful Elders and Saints should be persecuted, scourged, or imprisoned, the Lord can and will overrule all for the best good to bring to pass his purposes upon the earth. It is realy gratifying to me to live in an age when I can witness the rolling forth and building up the Kingdom of our God upon the earth.
The immigration are all in and have been wonderfully blessed with good weather and success. They have all arrived safe and in good health in time to get locations before cold weather. They were generally met at this place by the brethren from the different settlements with teams and wagons to take them to their various places of abode. The Danish Company have principally located in San Pete Valley.

We are pushing the Sugar house building and Machinery for the manufacture of Sugar from the Beet, & expect to get it into general operation the present season We have a large amount of Sugar Beets on hand ready for manufacture. Our other works are also prospering.

Also find enclosed draft in my favor on George L. Watt for $246.14/100 and place to my credit on your books subject to my draft. Commission also paid.
I wish you to purchase and forward to me an Opheclaide for Robert Pixton who will pay for it here. Get bro William Pitt to select it. A "C flat with 11 keys.
Owing to our necessities I expect to be obliged to draw upon you during the winter for some considerable means, the precise amount of which I cannot yet say.
I have authorised bro Erastus Snow, at St. Louis to draw upon you from time to time to meet my requisition upon him.
When we get through with our present urgent demands (which would not have occured if we could have obtained our just dues from Government) we may be able to reimburse if need be.

I report to you a request made to Bro. S. W. Richards during his presidency in England, not to enlarge the publishing department, but husband your resources and have your stock in available means instead of piling up publications, which impoverish and waste you away but produce no profit neither temporal nor spiritual.
