Dear Brother,

I want my teams to stay at your place, going and coming; they will have their own grain, and eat Bro. Kimball's hay: they will have their own bread and dinner.  I want a guard kept there nights one or two men on watch to see that there are no animals stolen, unless you can shut up your outside gates perfectly tight.  Guard your own stock, for the Indians that have been stealing stock West are prowling round; when any of them make their appearance in the settlements take them and confine them, and not let them run at large, but keep them as hostages for the return of our stock
