Bishop W. G. Young,

Dear Brother--
Recent occurrences have rendered it advisable to waive settling in the Ibimpah Valley at present, and to change the direction of the company designed for that valley to the vallies west of Fillmore. The Ibimpah is too much of a resort for numerous bad Indians who roam from Ruby Valley, the Humboldt and other regions north and west; commit depredations and are soon beyond reach, which will render that locality insecure without making a settlement stronger than is now thought proper. For this reason the company selected for Ibimpah will prepare themselves to meet in this city and be ready to start on the 22nd. of this month, if bro. Lorenzo Snow, who is now north gathering men for that expedition, returns and is ready by that time, of which you will be advised.

Your Brother in the Gospel.
Brigham Young
