Genl. James Ferguson

Dear Bro.
Yours of 3rd (6. A. M) came duly to hand and I entirely concur in your opinion relative to each Dept of the Military performing its own duties. The reason of my having spoken to Gen. Robison on the subject of the Cannon was on account of his having to furnish the necessary transportation. On receipt of this you will / cache all the guns except the 12 pd'r M. Howitzer at the earliest practicable moment. That may be required of us. There is not a place yet prepared for the ammunition but will be as quick as we can. The Q. Master should keep wagons on hand to haul the amn. away at an hour's warning.

We are all well and feel well. We have opened an office with two small rooms. Your desk should be sent down when you come, there is just room for it remaining in one of the rooms of the office.

If you wish you can pick out one or two of the light guns for the use of the L. Artillery Corps & call upon the Q. Master for transportation to this place but we dont expect any use of them till we have more amm[n].

Your bro in the Gospel

Daniel H Wells
