Dear Brother:--
You are authorized to take charge of the public property and works that have been sent to that place. You are authorized to draw upon Bishop <Lewis> for such supplies as you need but you must make the works sustain themselves, for this purpose you are at liberty to take jobs and sell work and manufactured articles for which you should obtain such pay as will pay your hands and keep you supplied with such material as you need.

The foundry is also placed under your charge and may be put and kept in operation if the necessary material can be procured. We cannot be expected to send iron from this direction as requested by Bro. Phelps. Brethren who wish to procure casting must as heretofore furnish their own iron there being no foundry this side of Parowan of course any who wish to get any will have to go there for them I would not extend credits as that makes trouble and cripples the works, neither would I go into any unnecessary expense, be wise and prudent and may the Lord bless you and give you success.
