Dear Brother:--
In consequence of the U. S. troops detaining, illegally, our Mail matter, your letter to President Young, of Aug. 27th. 1857 was not received until the 12th. inst., In reply I have to say that by addressing a letter to H. S. Eldridge, Esqr., Box 333, Post Office, St. Louis, Missouri, you can receive information and instruction necessary to your condition. If, however, Bro. Eldridge will have removed your best way would be to proceed to Florence, State of Iowa, or Iowa City, where, no doubt, you can easily join a company of Saints who will emigrate to this place in the proper season. If you should be too late to join a train, I understand that there is plenty of work to <be> obtained in those settlements until the way will open.
