Dear Brother,
Your note of the 7th Inst. in relation to building a mill at Spanish Fork, is at hand. It is commendable to do all the good that you can, and I doubt not that a good grist mill is needed at that place and should recommend you to build one if you can do so without involving yourself in debt. Use the material you have and proceed as that shall enable you to do so. In regard to obtaining money we presume that if you and the people of that place knew that the merchants here are not taking the currency, that they would not want it I sincerely trust that the merchants will adhere to this resolution. You therefore discover that to have the currency besides involving you in debt would not help you in that direction, neither are we loaning a bit of money at present. The people should feel sufficient interest in the improvement of the place to render you such assistance as you need and take wheat and flour which you very properly remark "is as good property as you want". Trusting that you may be prospered in doing good and that the Lord will continue to bless you and all the saints I remain your Brother in the Gospel of peace.
