Mr. Ethan Pettit,

Dear Brother:--
Your note in relation to Land claims over Jordan is received. There is a law regulating land claims, and hence I have universally declined, as I do in this case, having any thing to say about such matters; neither do I wish by referring you to this law to cause you to seek litigation as a remedy, but, with that before your eyes, counsel you to do right with your brethren, and promote peace and amity so far as lies in your power.

Praying the Lord to bless you, and give you wisdom,
I remain truly

Your friend and Brother,

Brigham Young
