Your letter relative to making a settlement on the Colorado, is received.  I do not recommend you to go so far away out of reach of aid in case of any trouble with the Indians, even if you could find a suitable location, which is not very probable from the rocky and desert nature of the country.  But you have my approval if you desire, to make a settlement in the vicinity of Hebersville or Washington, say within a few miles from either settlement.
