Mr. John B. Milner
Provo.

Dear Bro.

I have received your letter of the 11th inst.  You are perfectly right in requesting compensation for the services you performed in reporting, and I have directed bro, Elias Smith to pay your bill in full, which he will do thro' bro. Carter, the Agent for the 'News', at Provo, upon whom please call for a settlement.

I was pleased to see you reporting on the stand at Provo, and trust you will continue, and become proficient in that branch of learning, which is very useful; and we wish to have others of our young men give it their attention, that we may not lack for Reporters.  I would like to have you teach one or two of the young brethren, if you know of those who are likely and willing to learn.

With my best wishes for your success and prosperity, I remain,

Your brother in the Gospel of Salvation

Brigham Young
