Bro. Joseph McMurrin :--

More than twelvemonths have elapsed since I took your mother to my home, under the impression that you would shortly assist her, which you have not done so far. At the time you took your luggage from the Deseret Store Prest. D H. Wells became acquainted that I was maintaining your mother, and he then counselled me to inform you that you would have to assist to support her and not let me bear the whole of the load. My family numbers ten at this time, I have to support an aged female relative myself, and I think it exceedingly unfair to burden me wholly with your mother. My observations have proved to me that the man who can place a parent under obligations to others, and totally neglect his filial duties, uses a means to clip himself of blessings he might enjoy, and lowers himself in the estimation of good men. hoping you will rouse up and do your duty and assist your mother

I remain Your Bro in the Gospel

George Sims
