Dear Brother:--
In reply to your note of the 18th inst., I have to state that in my opinion driving stock to California, or even to the western portion of this Territory, at least for the present and under such arrangements as you would now be able to make, would in all probability result in disappointment and much loss, and therefore is not good business policy. The reasons for this conclusion are deemed to be sound, and are rather too numerous to be herein detailed, neither is such detail necessary. Such is my opinion, now do as you please.
