Mr. John Wheeler, Genoa, Carson Valley

Sir:--
Your son Thomas J. has referred a case to Referees in which case is involved the taking of certain property by G. W. Parrish, Deputy Sheriff for Utah County, from your wagons while you was on your way to California. I wish you, at your earliest convenience, to inform me by letter over your signature whose property it was that said Parrish took as above specified; and, if said property was yours what disposition you wish made of such amount as the Referees may award to your son Thomas J. that the defendents may not be liable to suit and damages for making payments to the wrong person.
