Dear Brethren:--

Bro James Worthington has called upon me to learn what my feelings were in regard to making a settlement in I-van-pah Valley.  I have no objection whatever to persons going there to settle, provided that before moving their families and stock there, that they make the necessary arrangements to protect themselves from Indian attacks, by building a Fort, corralls &c.

By complying with these arrangements, you have my approbation and blessing.
