Elder Joseph E. Johnson,
Santaquin, Utah Co., U. T.,

Dear Brother:-In reply to your note I have to inform you that in my conversation with br. A. R. Wright I had no understanding of any bargain between him and yourself, but he claimed that you owed him for freighting your press, &c., from Wood River to this place, and I knew that he was poor and in need of whatever might be his due.

The press, &c., if left at Wood River was of course a loss to you here; but it is now here, and is of value, and can be put to good and profitable use; and it certainly seems just and right that br. Wright, who is poor and has already waited some time for his pay, should at once be paid what is justly his due.

Your Brother in the Gospel,

Brigham Young
