Bishop Thomas J. Thurston,

Dear Brother:

We would be pleased to have you settle up all the business of the Tithing, &c., connected with your ward for the year 1864. It may be better on some accounts to make a change in the ward, and to have a new Bishop appointed. Changes of this description have been necessary at sometimes to meet the feelings of the people and to keep up that degree of harmony which is essential for the well-being of the work in the settlements; and I expect that Morgan City does not differ in this respect from other places.

We think that it will be advisable, when you have closed up the business for the past year, to resign your Office as Bishop in the Ward where you are now laboring. We have an idea, that as you have plenty of business of your own, if you were to be released from the duties of Bishop of the Ward it might be neither unacceptable to you nor objectionable to the people of your Ward,

With love I remain
Your Brother in the Lord,

Brigham Young
