Dear Brother,

Your letter of the 26th instant on the subject of purchasing the Fort Vegas Ranch has just been received.

I know nothing about purchasing that property in the way you describe; and have no recollection of ever having spoken to any person about securing that property except Dr. Whitmore. I did tell him that I wished him to take steps about securing it, and gave it to him as a Mission. If you wish to go down there, however, I have no objections.
