Dear Brethren:

I wrote you on the 31st Jan. informing you of mine and President Kimball's intention to visit the South on or about the 12th of April, and requesting you to procure me three span of horses to put on my carriages. Owing to the heavy falls of snow which we have had, and are still having, we have concluded that it will be better for us to defer our contemplated trip to the South until the Fall instead of our going down, therefore, to St George and the Colorado this next April we will not go down until September next. I take this method of informing you of this change in our intention that you may not be disappointed in your calculations.

We are desirous of having every eligible spot on the Muddy, Los Vegas and the Colorado taken up by our brethren, so as to prevent stragglers who are drifting around that country from securing land and speculating in and profiting by our operations and toil. If there are any of the brethren in your settlements who would like to go down to that country, and take up places there, we would be pleased to have them <to> do so. Should any go down there, they had better report themselves to Bro. Erastus Snow.
